HomePipe Networks Appoints New Chief Marketing Officer
Former DocuSign, Citrix Systems and Compaq Executive Named to Leadership Position of Award-Winning Digital Content Access and Sharing Service
SEATTLE – March 9, 2011 — HomePipe Networks™ (www.homepipe.net), the leading innovator in digital content access and file sharing, today announced the appointment of high-tech marketing veteran, Doug Wheeler, to serve as chief marketing officer. Wheeler joins HomePipe's senior leadership team to accelerate its subscriber base, drive company growth and expand brand recognition of HomePipe's digital content delivery service. This announcement follows on the heels of HomePipe Networks recent closing of $1.1 million in Series A financing.
"Doug is a tremendous addition to HomePipe Networks with his extensive background in creatively and effectively increasing revenue growth through marketing initiatives," said Chris Hopen, co-founder and chief executive officer of HomePipe and co-founder and former CTO of Aventail Corporation. "With Doug's talent and experience, we are adding a critical piece of our leadership team and will better serve the thousands of HomePipe subscribers while continuing to accelerate the momentum of our next generation content access and sharing service."
Wheeler comes to HomePipe with an impressive track record of accelerating growth, broadening reach and increasing revenue in both public and private companies. Prior to HomePipe, Wheeler propelled Seattle start-up, software-as-a-service provider DocuSign to the rank of global market leader, increasing its user base 140 percent from 2.5 million in 2009 to more than 6 million users in 2010. He also increased revenue growth through marketing programs, which generated 300 percent year over year revenue growth. He was instrumental in DocuSign leading a coalition of banks, competitors and partners to support legislation for unanimous consent in the Senate and a joint resolution in Congress in recognition of June 30 as National ESIGN Day.
"HomePipe represents a unique opportunity. It elegantly solves a real problem that millions of us have today – how to quickly and securely access and share our pictures, videos and documents across a broad range of mobile devices anywhere, anytime without spending hours uploading content to a cloud service or syncing and copying it all over the place," Wheeler said. "With the exponential growth of mobile users and the apps market, coupled with the growing need to store and share progressively larger digital files, HomePipe is positioned to experience dramatic growth in its business and I look forward to help continue this progress."
Wheeler's background includes senior level positions at Seattle-based Scout Analytics (formerly BioPassword) and co-founder, president and chief executive officer of ScriptRx, Inc. Prior to ScriptRx, Wheeler served as the senior vice president of worldwide marketing for Citrix Systems. He also served as the vice president of corporate marketing and communications for Compaq Computer Corporation, Tandem Computer Corporation and Ungermann-Bass Networks.
Wheeler graduated from the Harvard Business School Executive Business Management Program and earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems from Purdue University. He also serves on the Corporate Board of Advisors for Purdue University's School of Technology and is an inductee into the Purdue University Distinguished Alumni.
